10,000 ft above Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield in Northamptonshire, on Saturday 6 September, will be the place to see this spectacle – a charity skydive for St Richard’s Hospice, Worcester. Even watching this event from the ground will not be for the fainthearted. The jump will involve Gareth leaving the small aircraft strapped to an instructor, 10,000 feet above the airfield, enjoying an exhilarating period of freefall before a parachute is deployed to enable them both to glide down to earth.
Having done this jump once before, back in 2008, Gareth knows just what to expect…in fact he’s been itching to get back up there ever since his feet touched the ground after completing the charity tandem skydive for local hospice St Richard’s – six years ago. Now, he is a husband, and father of two, he is keen to take on the challenge once again.
Gareth is aiming to raise £1200 through his skydive for St Richard’s Hospice to support the invaluable work of this Worcestershire charity, who provide free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. To give you an idea of the scale of the work carried out by the charity, St Richard’s need to raise £6.7 million this year to continue their work.
